Our Commitment
The Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to making our website, https://adultliteracy.ac.nz, accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. - Videos. We have introduced captions for all videos to assist users with limited hearing abilities. For our prospective students we have introduced some video elements to assist in learning about what we do.
- Audio. For prospective students who have limited literacy skills, we have introduced audio features and symbols to enhance useability and navigability of the site.
- Keyboard navigation: Our website can be navigated entirely using the keyboard, allowing users who cannot use a mouse to access all content and functionality.
- Clear headings and labels: We use clear and descriptive headings and labels to help users understand the structure and content of our website.
- Consistent layout: Our website has a consistent layout, making it easier for users to navigate and find information.
- Color contrast: We have ensured that there is sufficient color contrast between text and background to make it easier for users with low vision to read our content.
- Readability: We have consciously adopted fonts designed for readability. Sans serif fonts are recognised as easier to read than serif fonts, particularly for readers who have some level of dyslexia.
